Mother of Three, Co-founder of Oh!hellobae skincare & Second-Gen Owner of Jean Yip Group

Founded in Singapore, Jean Yip Group has grown from a single salon into one of the country’s most iconic names in the hair and beauty industry. With over 60 outlets islandwide and across the region, the brand has remained steadfast in its values of innovation, excellence, and heartfelt service - values that live on through its second generation. Today, Rachel brings her creativity and commitment to the brand’s marketing and hair departments, while also co-founding her own skincare line, Oh!hellobae and balancing life as a full-time mom.

Past To Present

Motherhood begins with tenderness - a quiet, powerful shift that changes how you love, live, and lead. In the early days, Rachel found herself growing into the role she once never imagined herself in. But now, baking with her kids is one of her favourite things.

Draped in soft pink, Rachel embodies the gentleness of early motherhood - full of discovery, vulnerability, and deepening love.

Looking back, Rachel laughs at how far she’s come. “I was definitely more rebellious. I always wanted to do things my way. But becoming a mom has softened me. I’m more understanding now, more considerate. I think I’ve even become more obedient to my own parents,” she adds with a smile.

Her path was far from linear - once a science-loving student, now a seasoned professional in beauty and marketing. “What I’m doing now is worlds apart from what I studied,” Rachel reflects. “I never imagined I’d end up in this industry. And on a personal level, I used to avoid anything domestic. But now, I genuinely enjoy motherhood. Baking and cooking with my kids has become one of my favorite things.”

Generations of Love: “Mama, don’t you forget about me!”

Growing up, Rachel recalls spending time in the salon with her mother, Jean Yip - a formidable figure in both business and motherhood. “My mom was always working, and I’d often ask her, ‘Mama, what time are you going home? I want to do my homework!’”

Now, it’s her daughter Ellery’s turn. “She always says to me, ‘Mama, don’t you forget about me!’” Rachel laughs. “She’s always afraid I’ll forget her. But one thing I know she loves saying is, ‘Mommy is the best.’ Right, Ellery?”

To which Ellery confidently replies, “The best I ever had.”

Her Style Now vs Then

As her children grew, so did Rachel’s sense of purpose - not just as a mother, but as a woman with a voice and vision. Dressed in bold red, she radiates energy and passion - juggling running a business, co-founding a skincare brand, and showing up for her family.

With this shift came a transformation in style. “I used to wear such high heels all the time,” she laughs. “Now, with kids, it’s about shoes I can move and run in. Maybe it's just age!” she jokes.

Her fashion choices have evolved - not to lose who she was, but to support who she’s become.
From sky-high platform heels in her younger days to more grounded, practical styles that let her chase after little feet - her love for fashion remains, just with a fresh perspective.

Genius Lessons Only Motherhood Teaches

Today, Rachel stands in quiet command of her many roles - with her own voice, her own rhythm. The bold black she wears signifies a stage of grounded elegance: a mother who leads with certainty, owns her space, and walks with calm confidence.

Motherhood don’t just shape the heart - they teach us valuable lessons that redefine our strength and resilience. As Rachel reflects on her own journey as a mother, she’s come to realise the quiet wisdom that comes with letting go and embracing help.

“It’s not exactly genius,” Rachel says with a laugh, “but I’ve learned the power of outsourcing and delegating. More importantly, the strength it takes to let go and allow others to help you."
